The Happy dream for the day: Hard bodies are better with the soft heart.
I just play in a tennis tournament high this weekend in La Jolla, California, a suburb of San Diego. The divisions rose from 40 in the age group of 50's, 60's, 70's, 80, 90 and 100. There were 4 female competitors from 100 doubles. I do not think anyone in this age group plays simple.
It is fascinating to observe these athletes of all ages, always tries hard in many ways not only to win a game or the championship, but only to stay in shape, stay upright and mobile. It is really heartening to see so many happy faces and bodies clean enough.
I had not played a senior event for many years and entered this tournament because it was local and a friend wanted to participate. We have agreed to be cannon fodder for the best players in the draw. But it is really fun. He showed me how to shape and I was how important it is to stay in shape, regardless of age. I used to regularly compete in these events and even traveled across the country to play. Naturally, I had to be fit for a potential winner at the end of these tournaments. And I was.
No matter what age a person is difficult bodies are better with the soft heart. That's what I remember years of competition - the kind expressed by the players on and off the court. They all suffered the same extremes in training and upgrade their skills, they respected each other. There was a fraternity or sisterliness in this case, which followed the players as they moved through the age groups. The soft heart went with them, and, of course, with hard bodies.
"Life is wonderful!"
